Emma Mize | JESM Wheaton Voice Teacher

Emma Mize holds a Masters of Music in Opera Performance from Oklahoma City University, and a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Lyric Theatre from The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also studied acting at the Stella Adler studio in New York City.

Emma has performed in a variety of musicals, operas, and operettas with a number of theaters across the country including the College Light Opera Company, the Krannert Center, and Art Labs Productions.

She has experience performing and teaching in a number of genres including musical theatre, pop/rock, classical, jazz, church music, and more…  She was on staff for the musical theatre intensive at ISYM, where she taught voice lessons, choreographed, and directed scenes. She has also directed full scale productions such as Legally Blonde as well as the University of Illinois’ Freshman Showcase.

Emma began her music journey in high school performing in musicals and madrigals as well as singing in choir and jazz ensembles. To her students, Emma would like to pass on inspiration, the ability to independently learn, versatility, confidence, and allowing ourselves to make mistakes. Emma’s goal is to create a safe space in which it’s okay to fail, learn, grow, and succeed.
