Banjo Lessons in Wheaton

The Jerry Evans School of Music provides top level Banjo lessons from high-level professionals with a Bachelors, or Masters, or Doctorate Degree in Music. No matter your current skill level or age, the JESM provides the complete learning experience that makes every student the skilled Banjo player they have always wanted to be.

Students will play music they love and enjoy, have fun with the instrument, learn essential fundamentals, and work with a curriculum designed to fit their individual goals.

Banjo Lessons cover all or part of the following information, based on the students’ level, needs, and goals:

Style: Students learn the style of choice from country, bluegrass, folk, pop, or rock Banjo.

Music Fundamentals: Students learn songs by ear as well as develop sight reading skills, as well as play solos and even learn to write Banjo parts and songs.

Technique: Students learn proper scales, picking, arpeggios, chords, pull-offs, hammer-ons, fun licks, and other exercises to make the fastest and clearest Banjo playing possible.

Musicality: Understanding the dynamics and interpretation of music to enhance every musical performance.

Concerts & Performance opportunities: Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to show off their “chops” and play their favorite songs in concerts!
