Jennie Sophia Grunseth | Vocal Instructor & Visiting Guest Artist

Jennie Sophia Grunseth is an elite Chicago-based actress, singer, and teacher who has performed in numerous productions and concerts across the Midwest and Nationally, having portrayed many iconic musical-theater heroines. Jennie Sophia has toured as Nellie Forbush as part of the Lincoln Center’s Broadway National Tour of South Pacific, and later reprised the role at Ogunquit Playhouse’s production (Ogunquit, ME), where she received an IRNE nomination for best lead actress in a musical.

Chicago audiences saw her as Fiona in the Goodman Theater’s revival of Brigadoon where she was nominated for a Jeff Award. Other credits include The Merry Widow, The King and I, and My Fair Lady (The Lyric Opera); The Secret Garden (Court Theater); Oklahoma! (Marriott Lincolnshire) Les Miserables, Sound of Music, and Oliver! (Drury Lane Theater); Beauty and The Beast and Billy Elliot (Paramount Theater); Passion (Chicago Shakespeare); Miracle (Royal George Theater) as well as shows at Light Opera Works, Circle Theater, and The Wagon Wheel. Jennie Sophia also enjoys performing concerts for various venues, charities, galas, and weddings.

Jennie Sophia is excited to get back into teaching music, and impact the next generation with the Jerry Evans School of Music. She looks forward to exploring music, developing good technique, and fostering creativity in singing with her students.
