During the past year of Covid & lockdowns, taking music lessons virtually online became a popular method of music construction. Knowing the benefits of staying at home while taking lessons can give you the motivation you need to keep learning. Here are some benefits of online instruction:

1. Having virtual lessons provides a convenience for the player that relaxes them. You can wear your comfiest clothes and play your favorite tunes in the comfort of your own home! How sweet is that?

 2. By practicing at home you can plan out a schedule that works for you. All you need is access to an electronic device and your instrument, and you can take lessons whenever you are free in your day.

3. You can use your electronic devices to record your lessons too, so you can rewind, pause, and re-watch lessons later. Recording your lessons and referring back to the recordings can help you know what to improve and what your strengths are!

4. Another factor that benefits you when taking virtual lessons is the opportunity to warm up before your lesson. If you find that you experience pre-lesson jitters or you want to nail a part in a piece that is difficult to play, you can do so prior to meeting with your instructor. People that have anxiety when meeting face-to-face for music lessons are less anxious during virtual lessons, and are able to play music better without extra stress.

5. Virtual lessons requires no commute so you can save time and gas money! Online music lessons are more accessible to people that have a far commute to their lessons and all you need is an internet connection and your instrument (how simple).

6. Although an obvious benefit during the coronavirus pandemic, virtual lessons help keeps you healthy because you are avoiding contact with people outside of your household. For those with health conditions (immunocompromised) or those living with people in vulnerable state can be kept safe. Going along with health concerns, virtual lessons guarantees that you or your child will not be sharing their instrument with other people. Since you get to be at home during lessons, you get to use your own equipment without worrying about who else has used it before you and whether it is clean.
